| Least Tern Nesting Area The park's primary purpose is to provide a nesting habitat for the Least Tern, a threatened species of shore bird protected by the Federal Migratory Bird Act. A shelled area has been created along the seawall to provide nesting sites. Least Terns arrive in Florida in mid March and nest from late April to mid summer.
